The gorge of Dimosari is located in South Evia, on mount Ochi, at an elevation of 1.386 meters. It is undoubtedly one of the most mesmerizing hiking trails in Greece. It has a dense forest and a rich wildlife. There is a path that crosses it and can be divided into two parts, above and below the village of Lenosaion. Above the Lenosai, the gorge is steep and wild while the rest of the sea is a narrow valley that reaches the beach of Agios Dimitrios. evia hotels That is a small, isolated beach with sand, but full of a wide variety of flora and fauna due to wetlands created by the stream that reaches the sea. The end of the gorge can be found at Kallianos beach, on the other side of the Aegean.
It is believed that during the archaic and classical period, metal mines were located on the gorge, in the direction towards the Kallianos area. Archaeologists believe so due to the rust that has been found on the beach and the most southern part of the gorge. Many are the sights that the visitor can enjoy when crossing the gorge. The dragon houses, the medieval cobbled streets and the fossils are only a few of them. Also the flaura, with the lush bushes and trees, the chestnut trees and the plane trees being as well as the fauna - with a variety of birds, including owls, eagles, buzzards and nightingales, and many other animal species, are experiences to be remembered.
